"Let all that you do, be done in love." 1Cor. 16:14
Hey there, I'm Mar! A twenty something year old, who's currently doing a jig between stumbling and dancing through life. I'm pretty sure I'm an amazing mother, my little bean seems to be happy, growing and thriving. I'm currently a stay at home momma, who's slightly obsessed with home cooked dinners and sensory activities for my daughter to play, and learn, with. My baby girl turned one in May 2012, and is the funniest little person I know.
We are an attached family. I wholeheartedly believe that there's no wrong way to raise your child (with obviously exceptions, like abuse). For us, "cry it out" just isn't an option. It makes every momma fiber within my body cringe when she cries. Does that mean I give her whatever she wants every time she cries? No. I don't want to raise a spoiled brat! As every mom knows, there's a difference between a real cry, and the "I'm going to fuss because I'm not getting what I want" cry.
I cloth diaper my bean's booty. Having super sensitive skin, I'm sure my little bean is going to have sensitive skin too. So keeping the chemicals, and all the nasty things, in disposables away from her dimpled behind made sense to my husband, and myself. Not to mention, they're so much cuter than disposable diapers!
We're still on our breastfeeding journey together. I'm lucky enough to have had only minor complications in the beginning, and I have a good supply, so my daughters never had a drop of formula. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing to do, mothering wise. I plan to let my daughter naturally wean herself, and as of right now she's showing absolutely no interest in weaning anytime soon.
Here are some other things we do as a family that I have gotten the side eye from:
- baby wearing (love my Ergo!)
- bed sharing (thankfully my husband's on a night shift, so the bed is rarely crowded)
- Baby Led Weaning (skip the purees, and go right for the good stuff!)
and I'm sure there are other things, but I just can't think of them right now!
We meet our bean's needs as they arise, and she's a really happy baby. She loves to play with our dogs (Husky, dachshund, and a *gasp!* pit bull), she's obsessed with our cat, and she's goes into everything she conquers head first, literally. I follow my instincts when it comes down to what we should be doing, how we should be handling situations. What's more natural than that? Hitting is not tolerated, from anyone, towards anyone or any animal.
I hope you enjoy visiting with my family on this blog, and that something you read here inspires you.
